“Three Pitches of the Week” – July 7, 2011
The “Three Pitches of the Week.” Try to knock these out of the park, and certainly don’t strike out on all three!

First Pitch: Let your clients market for YOU!
Now more than ever, businesses rely on relationship marketing in order to harvest one’s contact base as well as creating new business through referrals. However, for the consumer, seeing nothing but incredible ratings on a site that is hosted by the agent may not exactly portray complete honesty – even if the agent hasn’t tampered with the rankings. There are several third party sites that host rankings for all types of businesses that I strongly suggest you become a part of for the sake of your business.
The most popular of these websites is Yelp, which organizes every genre of business and allows for users to rate your business with 1-5 stars and comment on your service. For real estate agents especially, I also suggest having profiles on Incredible Agents and/or Faceified for maximum exposure on these “review sites.” Once you make a profile, please suggest to your clients (past and present) that they review you on these sites and let your clients promote YOU!

Second Pitch: Google’s Hacks at Facebook
With the growing popularity of social networking, mainly dominated by Facebook and Twitter, Google decided to take yet another swing at hitting the social media pitch. Google, which runs not only the world’s most popular search engine but also YouTube and the Android cell phone line, has previously failed to penetrate the social media market with tools such as Google Buzz and Google Friend Connect. Regardless, Google’s new network, Google+ (pronounced ‘Google plus’), plans to have a similar interface as Facebook, but with group video chatting, “Circles” of connections (similar to Facebook contact groups), and “Huddles” (comparable to Facebook group chats).
While no public release date has been stated, Google has already begun the momentum of Google+ by inviting a network of individual and equipping them with invites of their own. Thus, they are trying to create a stir and demand for the service before releasing it to the general public. Keep an ear out for more information as it comes out, but I strongly suggest getting on Google+ as soon as it goes public.

Third Pitch: Facebook Swings Back
On Wednesday, Facebook held a live press conference by video (on what is now known as Facebook Live) to announce major technologies that are going to change how Facebook operates. At the conference, hosted by Facebook founder/CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Skype CEO Tony Bates, Facebook announced a new partnership with Skype that was going to enable Skype-powered video chatting within Facebook that would not require a Skype username/password and operate with the click of a button within the Facebook chat window. The changes were effective immediately and can be accessed by anyone with a Facebook account.
In what is being perceived as a retaliation attempt at Google+, Facebook also unleashed a group chat function that is allegedly very similar to Google+’s “Huddles” function. This can also be accessed by anybody by clicking on a link within a Facebook chat window.
Facebook also announced that they now have over 750 million subscribers on Facebook and are aiming to hit 1 billion within the next year.
